An effort is being made to clean and restore stones in the Old North Cemetery. Many of these stones have been covered and some have been taken. Probbing has produced a few more stones and cleaning was completed. The stones are now being placed back in an area where proper tribute can be made. Join our class in completing this project with the Posey County Historical Society!
I really like this idea. This type of work introduces students to the history of their own individual areas. This can have a postive effect on the students by giving them some sense of "local pride". Students have done similar projects with Civil War era cemeteries to help better understand that period in history. Jason Stearns
